Effective July 3, 2026
How we collect, use, store, and share information when you use Routr.
This is a general template for an early-stage product. It is not legal advice. Have a qualified attorney review and customize these documents for your business entity, jurisdiction, insurance, and regulatory obligations before relying on them.
1. Introduction
Routr ("we," "us") operates Routr. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you use our website and related services.
By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
We may collect:
- Information you provide — for example an email address if you choose to save an itinerary or create a vault account.
- Trip planning inputs — destination searches, departure city, budget, travel dates, and passport nationality selected for visa estimates.
- Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location inferred from IP or browser geolocation if you allow it.
- Local storage on your device — theme preference, passport selection, lifestyle dial settings, and whether you accepted our legal notice (see Section 6).
- Session storage — temporarily stored generated itineraries in your browser session.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and improve trip planning features.
- Personalize visa estimates and departure defaults.
- Fetch third-party data such as currency rates, place details, or flight estimates when you request them.
- Send service-related messages if you opt in (for example vault access links).
- Monitor security, debug issues, and comply with law.
- Measure aggregate usage trends (we do not sell your personal information).
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data based on: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Service you request); (b) legitimate interests (security, improvement, affiliate attribution); (c) consent (where required, e.g. optional marketing); and (d) legal obligation.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage and session storage to remember preferences and itineraries on your device. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
You can clear site data through your browser settings. Some features may not work without local storage.
If we add analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, request consent.
7. Data retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required by law. Local data on your device persists until you clear it.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information as defined by California law.
To exercise rights, contact stebinbaby@routr.travel. We may verify your request before responding.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
We may process data in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
12. Changes
